Food Support
Langs offers a variety of programs and services to help increase access to food in our community. Langs is also a host site for the Garden Fresh Box and offers a monthly drop-in hands-on food prep and tasting class using the box contents.
Langs provides a free monthly dinner at their main site in Cambridge for members of the community. This is a drop-in dinner - advance registration is not required. Dinners are prepared and served by Langs' staff and volunteers. Please visit our programs and services page to see upcoming dinner dates. If you have further questions about the dinner, or are interested in donating food or volunteering for an upcoming dinner, please contact Tammy Saunders or Kevin Noseworthy.
Dinner Dates: One Tuesday evening per month
Dinner Times: 5:00pm – 7:00pm
Langs has an emergency food cupboard at their main site in Preston and at the North Dumfries Satellite Site. The food cupboards are intended for emergency use only and carry a small supply of non-perishable food items. Families/individuals requesting access to the food cupboards are encouraged to use their local Food Bank first when possible. Donations of non-perishable food items are welcome.
Langs offers free transportation to the satellite Cambridge Self-Help Food Bank in Preston every 2nd Thursday from their main site on Concession Road. The bus leaves at 9:30 am and returns approximately 1.5-2 hours later. Please contact Tammy Saunders for more info on Langs' transportation. Note: Advance registration is required with the Food Bank to access their services and ID will be required upon arrival at their site. Langs is a host site for the Garden Fresh Box Program, an initiative run out of the Guelph Community Health Centre. This is a volunteer-driven, non-profit, produce buying program that provides customers with affordable, seasonal fresh fruit and vegetables, while supporting our local farmers. Each box also comes with related healthy recipes and food articles! EVERYONE is welcome to participate!
Costs (cash-only):
- $15 for a small box
- $20 for a large box
Order / Pick-up Dates:
- Orders are due the first Friday of the month
- Pick-up is the 3rd Wednesday of each month in the afternoon at Langs
