Langs hosts annual special events to celebrate and bring our community together. Below is information on selected Langs events and fundraisers. Included in the information is a list of the various ways you can get involved.

Community Holiday Dinner

Langs hosts a Community Holiday Dinner in December for 250 active volunteers, program participants and patients. The dinner includes a full turkey dinner, crafts and activities for the kids, connections with community members AND a visit from Santa!

This year's dinner will be a virtual community celebration on Zoom with many exciting guests and interactive activities planned.  A complete turkey dinner for all those in attendance will also be included and distributed with the help of our good friends from the Cambridge Preston-Hespeler Rotary Club.

Date:  Wednesday, December 9, 2020

Wine Tasting Party with 13th Street Winery

           

Join the party on Zoom for a fun, educational and interactive experience with 13th Street Winery's Sommelier, Corinne Maund.  It promises to be an entertaining evening involving wine tasting, food demos, pairing suggestions, live music and laughs.  Right in the comfort of your own home!

  1. Date: Saturday, February 6th (6:45pm - 8:30 pm)  Guests in the waiting from 6:45 - 7:00 will enjoy a live performance of a string duo from the Cambridge Symphony Orchestra

Your ticket for $125 can be shared with as many guests as you invite into your home AND includes delivery directly to your doorstep-anywhere in Ontario

Your will receive:

  • A private ZOOM link with the meeting details and easy instructions (a helpline phone number will be provided for assistance that night) 
  • 3 bottles of wine: 2019 Expression Riesling, 2019 Pink Palette and 2019 Expression Cabernet Merlot
  • Chocolate ancho spiced walnuts, orange herbed olives, cheese-pleaser herb & fruit mix (recipe for a goat cheese log) and a gourmet chocolate treat
  • 5 specially selected recipes that perfectly pair with the wines; combinations that together deliver new flavour experiences
  • Special surprises, guests and spot prizes
  • Expert advice from an artistic, knowledgeable and articulate wine expert (sommelier) who is ready to answer all your questions about wines & grapes and dispel myths

Volunteer Appreciation Event

Langs celebrates National Volunteer Week each year with a volunteer recognition event to recognize and appreciate the efforts of their many volunteers. This event changes every year, but is always fun, interactive and memorable.

Annual Volunteer Appreciation Event: 

  •  2020's Appreciation Event was modified to meet Public Health Measures during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Monday, April 20/20, 12:00 pm, National Volunteer Week Exhibit Unveiling - “It’s time to Applaud this Country’s Volunteers,” a display of art, messages of thanks, inspirational stories and demonstrations on the impact our volunteers have at Langs.

*** This exhibit was available for viewing from noon on Monday, April 20/20 to Friday, April 24/20 in Langs in our Green Lounge. ***

8th "Celebrating Women" Fundraiser

 Langs' 8th Annual "Celebrating Women" Fundraiser

Celebrating Women is an annual fundraiser held each spring on the Saturday of Mother’s Day weekend in Langs' spectacular Green Lounge and gymnasium. It's an opportunity to celebrate women, be entertained, learn and connect with community. The event includes brunch, silent auction, raffles, candy bar, gourmet coffee cart, motivational speaker and surprises!  Langs is transformed into an elegant event space.       

Get involved:

  • Buy a ticket to attend or sponsor a Langs patient/program participant to attend who may not be able to afford a ticket of their own.
  • Sponsor the event: opportunities vary between $350 - $3,000 and include a variety of recognition benefits.
  • Donate food or giveaway items for the event for approximately 150 attendees
  • Donate silent auction items.

Tickets: $50 each, $350 for a table of 8.

A fun and informative musical fundraiser for Langs

@ Rhythm and Brews Brewing Company

Intimate VIP Meet & Greet with Alan:  6:30 pm - 7:30 pm. Complimentary drink, special appetizers & autographed takeaway - $100 each (limited tickets available)

General Admission:  Doors open at 7:00 pm - Warm up with guitarists, Jeff Shows and Jason Miller. Complimentary pub snacks - $50 each

Showtime:  8:00 pm. Followed by live music and dancing.

Exclusive "Langs Lager" available on tap.  Door prizes. Silent Auction Items. Raffles.  The evening will be packed with entertainment from start to finish!

Community Leader Luncheons

Langs hosts a ‘Community Leader Luncheon’ 3-4 times per year for members of the corporate community to network, learn more about us and tour our facility.

Get involved:

  • Attend the lunch
  • Invite a co-worker/colleague
  • Donate the meal for one of the lunches

Save the date:  Due to current Public Health Measures, all luncheons are on hold.

Monthly Community Dinners

Langs provides a free monthly dinner at their main site in Cambridge for members of the community. This is a drop-in dinner - advance registration is not required. Dinners are prepared and served by Langs staff and volunteers. If you have further questions about the dinner, or are interested in donating food, sponsoring or volunteering for an upcoming dinner, please contact Tammy Saunders or Kevin Noseworthy.

Save the date:  Dinners are held one Tuesday evening each month from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. 

Get involved:

  • Volunteer to help cook or serve for one of the dinners (also a great team building opportunity!)
  • Donate or sponsor food for one of the dinners

Community Picnics

Langs hosts Community Picnics each summer at their main site, the Grow Community Centre and the North Dumfries satellite site. These fun and interactive picnics include activities and games for all ages, a BBQ meal, and various community partner booths / stations.
