Langs, a community health centre, is pleased to announce three upcoming Community Picnics.
Langs Community Picnics are designed as a reflection of our commitment to fostering a sense of belonging and unity within our vibrant communities. By providing a welcoming space for individuals, families and friends to come together, we aim to strengthen relationships, encourage dialogue and embrace the rich cultural tapestry that makes our community thrive.
A Community Picnic will be offered in each of Langs' neighbourhoods.
The picnics will offer a variety of activities, entertainment, refreshments and opportunities for residents of all ages and backgrounds. Admission will be $1 per person, a maximum of $5 per family. This year Cambridge turns 50! We will be helping to celebrate this milestone at our Cambridge locations. Guests attending all picnics can expect to see a variety of community agencies on-site to share supports and resources available, family-friendly games and activities including a bouncy castle, and a BBQ.
Langs invites everyone in the community to join us in celebrating belonging at the Community Picnics. Whether you are a long-time resident, a new member of the community, or simply visiting, this event promises a day of fun, connection, and cultural exploration.

Langs provides a range of health services, including primary care, mental health services, dental care, and health promotion programs. Langs is committed to improving the health and well-being of the community by providing accessible, high-quality health services and programs.
Territorial Acknowledgement
Langs, as a settler-led organization, acknowledges that it is a form of respect, wherever we live, to find out whose traditional territory we are on because every part of what is now known as Canada is someone’s Indigenous traditional territory. We acknowledge that Langs is on the Haldimand Tract, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabe, Haudenosaunee, and Chonnonton People.
We have much to learn from the First People of this land who assist in the spiritual, emotional, physical, and mental well-being of others. We are grateful for the historic and ongoing care for the land by the Indigenous peoples of this area. Langs recognizes that we are all treaty people with a responsibility to honour our relations and live with each other in kinship.
Background
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada published a report in 2015 with 94 calls to action. These actions are broken down into action areas, such as Health, Education, Youth Programs, Professional Development Trainings, Justice and more. Recommendations made are an important blueprint for Canadian reconciliation, and specific calls to action pertain to much of the work that Langs does.
A territorial acknowledgement is a way of recognizing the everlasting presence of colonialism in Canada and to remember that the land on which we live, work, and play was and continues to be Indigenous Land. Langs recognizes that we are on an active learning journey through our IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) work. We welcome feedback from the community, our participants, patients, partners, staff, volunteers and students.
