Langs Community Health Centre announces that Chief Executive Officer Debbie Hollahan will retire effective November 27, 2026, concluding a distinguished health care career spanning more than four decades, including regional leadership roles and a transformative tenure as CEO of Langs.

Throughout her career, Debbie has been recognized as a visionary leader whose commitment to quality, innovative, integrated, and patient-centred care has had a lasting impact across Cambridge, Waterloo Region, and Ontario. Known for her strategic thinking, collaborative approach and exceptional leadership, she has prioritized initiatives that improve access and coordination across the health system.

As CEO, Debbie strengthened Langs’ organizational foundation while expanding programs and services to meet evolving community needs. She embedded a culture of continuous improvement by strengthening leadership in quality management and introducing dedicated roles to advance Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility (IDEA) and women’s health. She also guided the development of Langs’ five-year strategic plan, positioning the organization for continued success and growth through 2031.

Among her significant accomplishments were securing funding to expand primary care services, advancing infrastructure growth through additional facilities, strengthening provincial recognition of Central Intake programs, supporting the Youth Wellness Hub’s integration into the provincial network, establishing the Waterloo Region HART Hub satellite, and advancing the integration of hospital and community diabetes services.

Prior to her role as the CEO, Debbie served as Regional Director of the Waterloo Wellington Regional Coordination Centre, where she pioneered innovative centralized intake models for diabetes, orthopedics, and cataract care. She also led the development of regional clinical pathways and established the regional self-management program to support improved care for individuals living with chronic disease.

Prior to her work in this region, Debbie practiced in Mississauga, London and Toronto, contributing extensively to professional education and system planning, earning national recognition for her leadership in health innovation.

The Board of Directors extends its sincere gratitude to Debbie for her leadership, lasting contributions, and commitment to Langs and the broader health care system. Her legacy will be reflected in the programs, partnerships, and organizational culture she helped build.

The Board will begin a recruitment process for Langs’ next Chief Executive Officer, supported by Preston Human Capital Group, to ensure a smooth transition. Throughout this period, Langs remains committed to delivering high-quality, person-centred care and advancing the health and well-being of the communities it serves.

There will be opportunities in the months ahead to celebrate Debbie’s many contributions. For now, the organization expresses its deep appreciation for her extraordinary leadership and confidence in the strong foundation she leaves behind.

Sincerely,
