"GROWING IT FORWARD" CAPITAL CAMPAIGN FOR LANGS (posted: 2011-11-09) Langs Farm Village Association was established as a community development project in 1978 by a group of citizens and service providers concerned about vandalism and the lack of accessible services in the Langs community. These individuals believed that the establishment of a community-based organization would play a positive and preventative role in the neighbourhood. We’ve now had over 33 years of demonstrated success. Together, our staff and 230+ volunteers provide hundreds of essential programs and services to over 20,000 people annually. Over the past decade, the organization has grown in size and complexity by doubling its number of programs, services and partnerships. As a result of this growth, Langs outgrew the 20,000 square foot facility it leased in the community & purchased 3.1 acres of land located on Concession Road across from St. Michael’s School. Construction of the new 58,000 square foot facility began in 2010 and is complete! You can make it happen! Our new facility is critical to LFVA's vision of creating healthy, engaged communities where residents are valued and supported. We have received $5 million in funding from the Government of Canada and $3 million from the City of Cambridge to complete the project. Total capital costs for the new facility are $14 million and will cover: Community kitchens, Group rooms, Expanded programming space, Gymnasium with a walking track, Expanded Community Health Centre, Healthy Smiles Ontario program, Outdoor courtyard, Consolidated administrative office space and Consolidated space for our 20+ partners. Langs launched the organization’s “Growing It Forward” Capital Campaign in the spring of 2011 with a $1.5 million goal. Through generous donations from individuals, companies and organizations in and around Cambridge, we have now raised $1.1 million towards that goal. Thank you to everyone who has generously donated to our "Growing It Forward" Capital Campaign for Langs, we are over 2/3 of the way there!! We still need your help to reach our goal!! There are a number of ways to donate at a variety of levels including room naming opportunities, campaign pledges and the option of buying a brick through our "Brick-by-Brick" fundraiser. A donor recognition wall in the main lobby will display the names of the many individuals & business’ who have supported our campaign. For more information on our campaign, please take a look at the documents listed below, or contact Karyn Racher at karynr@langs.org, (519) 653-1470 extension 263.
